Application Requirements for Transfer Students
Prospective students must meet all requirements from (A) to (D) by April 1,2025:
A)Nationality
Foreign nationals expected to have the status of residence of “Student” at the time of admission and dual nationals who do not have Japanese nationality
B)Academic Background
Prospective students for which any of the following conditions apply:
- A person who has graduated a four-year university or junior college worldwide
- A person at a four-year university worldwide who has enrolled for at least one year and received 30 credits or more if transferring into the second year or who has enrolled for at least two years and received 62 credits or more if transferring into the third year (excluding all periods of leave)
- A person who has graduated a Japanese specialized training college and completed a course satisfying the standards set by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) (all college graduates must meet the university admission criteria laid out in Article 90 of the School Education Act)
*Standards set by MEXT: the postsecondary course must involve a minimum of two years of study and a total class time of 1700 hours or more, and the college graduate must have received at least 62 credits - A person who graduated a Japanese technical college
- A person who graduated a Japanese senior high school and completed an advanced course satisfying the standards set by MEXT (all high school graduates must meet the university admission criteria laid out in Article 90 of the School Education Act)
*The advanced course must involve at least two years of study - A person who has been individually screened by the university for eligibility and is deemed to have qualifications equivalent to items 1–5

C)Japanese language proficiency
Prospective students must fall under one of the following categories at the time of application:
- A person who has passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N1 level or higher.
- A person who has received a total score of 280 points or higher in “Listening and Listening-reading Comprehension,” “Reading Comprehension,” and “Writing” (with at least 35 points) on the “Japanese as a Foreign Language” section of the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU)
- A person who has received a total score of 660 points or higher on the Japanese Proficiency Test (JPT)
- A person who has received a total score of 700 points or higher on the A-C level of the J.TEST (Practical Japanese Test)
- A person who has received a total score of 530 points or higher on the Business Japanese Test (BJT)
D)Academic Circumstances
Prospective students with the status of residence of “Student” must have a total attendance rate of 90% or more at the Japanese school they are attending at the time of application.
Application Requirements for Returnees from Overseas (International students may not apply)
Prospective students must meet all requirements from (A) to (C) by April 1,2025 :
A)Nationality
A Japanese national (including holders of multiple nationalities) or foreign national who is expected to secure an appropriate status of residence other than “Student” by the time of admission
B)Age
Individuals who are 18 years of age or older, or those under 18 years of age and have university admission qualifications as specified by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT)
C)Academic Background
Prospective students for which any of the following conditions apply:
- A person who has resided overseas continuously for at least two years or has experience of living overseas for a total of four years or more, and for whom any of the following apply
- However, this is only applicable to persons who returned to Japan within the last two years at the time of admission
- A person who has completed at least 12 years of formal schooling overseas (if less than 12 years, they must complete a preparatory education course or training facility course designated by MEXT)
- A person who is 18 years of age or older and passed an academic qualification examination equivalent to the completion of 12 years of formal schooling overseas
- A person who has an International Baccalaureate (diploma required/only course results not acceptable), GCE A Level (minimum E rating/2 subjects),Abitur (Germany), or Baccalaureate (France)
- A person who has completed a minimum of 12 years of study at an institution accredited by an international assessment body (WASC, CIS, ACSI)
- A person who has fulfilled university admission qualifications specified by the MEXT other than those listed above

A)Nationality
A Japanese national (including holders of multiple nationalities) or foreign national who is expected to secure an appropriate status of residence other than “Student” by the time of admission
B)Age
Persons who are 23 years of age or older
C)Academic Background
Prospective students for which any of the following conditions apply:
- A person who has graduated from a high school or completed secondary education in Japan
- A person who has graduated an upper secondary department of a school for special needs education or completed three years at a technical college
- A person who passed the exam for a Certificate for Students Achieving the Proficiency Level of
