HKU + KSU Printmaking Project

Riso Exchange with Utrecht School of the Arts

Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU) professors visit campus for a collaborative book-making project between KSU and HKU students

Riso Exchange book with work from 35 HKU students and 35 KSU students

Printmaking professor Marie Yoshiki organized this project along with professors Eva van der Schans (graphic design) and Marloes Kroeze (printmaking) from HKU, one of our partner institutions. The book features work from 35 HKU students and 35 KSU students as they explore the relationship between Japan and the Netherlands through language and risograph printing.

Both HKU professors also made time to hold a lunchtime information session where they spoke to a group of KSU students about HKU and its exceptional printmaking facilities. They brought a wide range of materials with them, including risograph prints, stickers, and books, and spent time answering student questions about their own artistic practices and various printmaking techniques.

This risograph book project served as a wonderful opportunity for students of both universities to add their unique voices to the long history of Japan-Netherlands exchange.
